I have painted and studied landscape painting almost all my life, and before throwing the brush on the canvas, I camp and enjoy studying the ecosystem; I believe that knowing every element in my painting is essential to bring it to life on my paintings. I like to paint panoramic views especially the Deserts, I love Texas and Big Bend, where the Mountains are the frame of my paintings and along with the blue sky and its capricious clouds create a composition that gives me that energy and tranquility of balance that I tried to put in my paintings.
I have lived in Northern Mexico and Southern United States all my life, I have traveled and visited many beautiful places but the enormous natural beauty and variety of life in and around Big Bend is incomparable. Since I visited it, a couple of years ago, it has been a source of my inspiration.
Most of my paintings are based on an actual place, in the middle of the day to capture the real color of things in a particular season. I take numerous reference photos to record everything, especially plants, rocks, trees, to create my own composition with the same realism.
Back in the studio, I complete my works of art taking care of all possible details, creating my compositions to give them balance. My work may take even a couple of months before it is finished.
I have been working with oleo and pastel but I like to work with watercolor and acrylic on canvas because they are easy to transport and dry fast, allowing me to climb hills, work fast and return several times with my painting on save.
