Artist Statement

This years' offerings are raw drawings with stubby Ebony pencils, something you might see in a grade schoolers' notebook margin; recent shapes are bags, breasts, purses, loops, x marks, and gumball machines.

Colors are soft muted grays, taupes, yellow, pink, flat white and dark gray; prior work and underpainting peeks through opaque and transparent color.

It's an intuitive daily process of showing up, feeling, drawing, painting, editing, sitting with a piece until it works, painting over when it doesn't. Happy when it works but that feeling is fleeting and there is still today to address. What did you make today?

But like everything right now it's a challenge to just be, be present, feel, not scream or break things. Plus there is still dinner to make and remember you are one of the lucky ones because you get to do this, no one is shooting at you, and Austin isn't flooding or on fire.
