Susannah is a native Austinite who spends most of her time making art, gardening and traveling. Her work stemmed from a place of necessity, when she realized her best method of communication is through art. Her pieces have usually taken on ten lives and multiple mediums. When my mind can't communicate into words feelings, expressions, thoughts, I turn to a canvas.
In her collection of works, you will find pieces that began their life as a painting and evolved into a sculpture, or a print that became a painting. Susannah believes that like people, art is a process and evolution. We are all evolving creatures and art is a universal language that everyone should have the opportunity to experience.
Art is my preferred method of communication. Verbal communication has never been my best means of communicating and I always find myself coming back to creating a visual piece of art that conveys a sentiment, a moment, an experience that I am otherwise unable to speak. Using my hands to create what I cannot process verbally is my method of expression. All works of art are a composition of matter in the form of lines, shapes, colors, and light. This is true for 2D visual art, sculpture, ceramics, you name it. We are all evolving creatures and I believe art is a universal language that everyone should have the opportunity to experience.
