Ruido/Noise is a new sound art gallery here in Austin, Texas. Ruido/Noise presents exhibitions, performances, and sound art which primarily exist online. We were founded in January of 2020 and had our first show 'Sonambulo/Sleepwalker' on July 24th featuring artists from Mexico, Argentina, Massachusetts, and Indiana. We hope to transition into public exhibitions in Fall 2021.
Mission - To foster a platform for artists working in Sound Art, as well as facilitating spaces for them to present their work. Sound art is interdisciplinary by nature, in many ways it manifests itself in a hybrid form: acoustics, psychoacoustics, circuit-bending, electronics, noise music, therapy, audio media, found or environmental sound, soundscapes, explorations of the human body, sculpture, architecture, film or video and other aspects of the current discourse of contemporary art. Artists of all calibers will be invited to apply to open-calls for work, solo exhibitions, and art proposals, providing an equal opportunity to those wishing to participate in exhibitions. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department and through individual donors.
