I was born in Mexico City in a rather large family of nine. I grew up in a poor area but thanks to free collage education in Mexico I studied Philosophy. After I graduated I migrated to Chicago where I lived for a decade and made jewelry. In the year 2000 I moved to Austin and started painting Acrylics, Watercolor And eventually Oils which I love doing. I am a self taught painter and it has taken me a long time to learn, if there is anything that I could have done differently for sure would be taking formal painting and drawing instructions. I'm not really a professional painter in the sense that my art does not provide any significant income. I decided to do something good with my education from Mexico and got a certification as a bilingual teacher so I could teach in public schools.
Artist Statement
Human and animal figures are frequent subjects of my artwork. I am very inclined to create a narrative that includes the mysterious and fantastic ,but rather than trying to achieve the perfect proportions and representations I am just trying to evoke feelings. I also like to paint political and sometimes whimsical representations of the human condition.
