I will be uploading a virtual studio tour video where I give an inside glimpse of where the magic happens, and showcase some of my current projects!
A life distilled down to 200 words! Less if you are counting these. I started my art career in Chicago . . . but that's not exactly true, is it? I "started" painting and sculpting in Denver, but didn't have any major shows until moving to Chicago. That was around the year 2000. Since then, I have had more public exhibitions than I care to keep track of. I've bounced around the country, shown work in the States and overseas. I have taken on some pretty exciting commissions, and seen my work evolve from simple life castings to complex sculptures. I have a penchant for the dark, and what lies beneath the current of reality we all float on. I use my work to explore a bit of this. In addition to sculpture and digital art, I have recently taken up writing - exploring the narrative that binds my creations together. At this point, it is one of the most fulfilling things I do. I currently reside on Austin's southern border and my website is a mess. Aside from all of that, I'm building a maze in my backyard.
Artist Statement
Art is the story I tell myself to give the illusion that my life has purpose. Without it, I really don't know what I am supposed to be doing here. I use my work as a cathartic means to work through my frustrations and failures. Through that work, I am sometimes able to take that which was broken, and somehow make it whole . . . if a bit different.
